In a lot of Facebook groups people are starting like and follow threads for their blogs and social media accounts.
This is a very harmful and ineffective practice for growing your blog.
Those like and follow threads are not actually helping you grow. And today I will be telling you why you should no longer do like and follow threats
1. You are not attracting your ideal audience
Those like and follow threads are only with other bloggers. Other bloggers are not your ideal audience. So why participate in those like and follow threads? The only thing you will be doing is getting other bloggers to follow you this is a very poor strategy.
Instead your ideal audience should be every day people, who yes are using social media, but they are not in any blogging Facebook groups.
Simply put other bloggers are probably not your ideal audience so these like and follow threads are completely unnecessary.
2. Follow/Unfollow happens on these threads
Many of the same bloggers who encourage like and follow threads will soon unfollow everyone that follows them. It’s just the name of the game now.
A lot of the times these follow threads are used to gain followers fast. It’s not about quality it’s about quantity to these bloggers. They don’t care that they’re ideal audience is not other bloggers – they just want to bring up their numbers and they want to bring up their numbers fast.
If you participate in these like and follow threads you will most likely get an influx of people. But you will also get a tremendous amount of unfollows.
And at the end of the day that is not the best use of your time.
Instead focus on spending 5 to 10 minutes each day engaging with non-bloggers. After all your ideal audience is not other bloggers, it’s every day people who will not be doing follow/unfollow
3. Social media platforms will tag your account as spam
When you get an influx of followers from these threads, the social media platform you are using might flag it as spam.
After all it is very unnatural to get thousands or even millions of followers in one day.
Your readers will see right through this and so will the social media platforms. Believe me it is a waste of your time to do these follow threads because you are risking so much with them.
You do not want your account to get shut down because all of a sudden you have more followers than you previously did. In order to prevent this if you will be doing follow threads just do it with under 50 people.
So find a group of people that will support you and follow you no matter what.
And finally make sure that what ever community you are in there is a genuine urge to help people. Don’t just join follow threads because other people are also doing them.
4. Brands are getting wise to follow and like threads
Just recently a social media and influencer company has banned the use of follow threads and like pods within their community. Brands are starting to become wise to these social media tactics that influencers use to gain attraction and a large following. They know that likes and comments and follows are not genuine.
My final tip for you is to do like and follow threads minimally. If you can avoid them completely.
They are no benefit to you or your blog. You can grow a social media following without doing these types of threats it’s just all about the content you post and connecting to your ideal reader – which again is not another blogger.
So the next time you see one of these threads just keep scrolling by. Believe me you would have just save five minutes of your time.
Do you participate in like/follow threads? Have you found them helpful? Leave me your story in the comments, we’d love to hear them!
